How To Choose the Best Foundation For Your Skin

Charlotte Tilbury and Huda Beauty; two very big brands.

Two best selling foundations.

But at £34 a bottle, which one is worth the investment?

We want dewy and full coverage.

We want buildable, but also natural looking.

We want long lasting on even oily skin.

And most importantly, we don’t want to waste our money.

So which one ticks all of these boxes?

Huda Beauty Faux Filter: The Staple in My Make Up Bag

This foundation has been my holy grail since I made the brave move away from Estée Lauder Double Wear.

After years of bad skin, I’ve got into the habit of always going for a full coverage foundation.

(Click here to see how I cleared my skin for good!)

Estée Lauder is great, however I found that after a few hours it used to oxidise on my face and turn that little bit orange.

I tried Huda Faux Filter as a less orange version, and I was pretty impressed.

First initial thoughts; it’s a nice, thick and creamy texture.

It covers very well.

And, it lasts all day.

It also gives quite a nice finish…

Before Huda Faux Filter

After Huda Faux Filter

The shade I use here is Latte, and I think it’s the perfect balance of tanned, but not orange.

And it literally Does. Not. Budge.

Even with my extra oily T-zone.

However, if I wanted any sort of glow on my face, I would have to add a serious amount of highlighter to my cheeks.

This foundation was not dewy…

Enter Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless…

My friend recently bought the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation and has been raving about it ever since.

I googled it and saw some pretty good reviews.

So I took the plunge and went for it…

I went for 6 Neutral – I’m fairly pale thanks to my Irish heritage, but majority of the time I have fake tan on, so thought this could be a safe bet.

First Impression of Airbrush Flawless

This foundation is actually amazing!

As soon as I put it on my face I was glowing from ear to ear, with actually a decent amount of coverage too.

It’s not as full coverage as Huda Beauty, but I would say unless you have really bad skin, it pretty much does the job.

Final Look of Airbrush Flawless

Before Charlotte Tilbury..

After Charlotte Tilbury…

As you can see, it gives a lovely sheer glow, but has actually covered VERY well at the same time.

This is without any concealer or powder on…

All I have on my skin is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation!

And it is definitely buildable.

I noticed when I put a second layer on it covered a few acne scars a lot better.

It does also last on your skin with minimal touch up’s throughout the day.

So, after 9 hours after application, I’m still glowing and dewy!

Conclusion:

Huda or Charlotte T?

If you’re looking for a foundation that has 80% coverage, but gives a lovely glow, and lasts on your skin pretty much all day, Charlotte Tilbury is everything you need.

If you’re looking for a 100% coverage foundation that literally does not move, you’ll probably want to go for Huda Beauty

Both great foundations, and both handy to have depending on how good a skin day your having.

I’ve actually got into the habit of using one pump of each onto my sponge and having a mix – then I get the full coverage but a lovely glow on top!

Here’s a picture of a combination of both, with the Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray on top for extra dewiness! (click here for my full review on this setting spray!)
