Estée Lauder vs YSL
The Best Primer for Flawless Make Up
Using a good primer helps your make up go on smoothly, blur the appearance of pores and keeps your make up in place for longer.
A really good primer can provide extra nutrients to hydrate your skin and give you a glow-effect.
I try two of the current best sellers for primers and see which one comes out on top…

Estée Lauder Aqua Brilliance Primer
With Hyaluronic Acid & Glycerin, Estee Lauder know how to look after your skin with this primer.
- Glow boosting formula
- Dewy complexion
- Micro-size water droplets
- Triple moisture complex
Let’s have a look at the before and after pictures…
I Was Very Impressed…
This gave me a sheer veil over my skin which I wasn’t expecting.
It would actually be enough to use on a no-make up day, to bring you to life and give a natural glow.
Let’s see how it sets my make up…
If there was a glow from within, this was definitely it!
A stunning finish, if I do say so myself.
I could feel just how smooth my skin was when applying my foundation.
I went for the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation – the queen of dewy finishes!

YSL Touch Eclat Blur Primer
An instantly radiant primer with ‘shimmer-flecked gel’ to create a flawless canvas.
- Transparent to allow optimal light diffusion
- Advanced blurring technology
- Illuminated, mattified complexion
So no hydrating ingredients with this primer, but the ‘shimmer-flecked gel’ did give me high hopes for this primer!
Let’s see how it looks…
I Wasn’t As Impressed…
I had high expectations due to the floating gold in this primer.
I thought my skin would be gleaming from ear to ear.
But I would say it was a bit of an anti-climax.
Let’s see how it sets my make up…
A Nice Matte Finish
I was more impressed once I had applied my make up.
It gives a very smooth base and a lovely matte finish.
I would say less of a glow than Estee Lauder.
But it definitely lives up to its advanced blurring technology.
And achieves that mattified complexion beautifully.
My Favourite is Estée Lauder
Both gave a smooth base ready for your foundation to sit perfectly.
And both kept my make up in place for a lot longer than I expected (and I’ve got oily skin!).
However, the added bonus of a light veil across my skin, gives Estée Lauder the edge for me.
This is perfect to have in your cupboard for those non-make up days, to achieve that clean girl no make up look!
