Elemis or Clinique?
Cleansing balms have overtaken the skincare world, and it is now the only way to take your make up off.
But which product is really going to transform your skin?
I remember the first time I tried the Elemis Pro-collagen Cleansing Balm.
My twin sister was bangin’ on about it, and was adamant I had to try it.
I was a loyal Simple wipe kinda gal – having to stand up over the sink and use water to take my make off, when I can just sit on the bed and whack a wipe over my face?
No thanks.
However one Sunday night when I had some extra time on my hands, I gave in and gave it a go.
Into the Spa…
The smell of the Elemis Cleansing Balm is nothing less than dreamy.
You feel a sense of luxury as you massage this product into your skin, and you can feel the oils and nutrients just melting into your skin.
Your Make Up Melts Off…
Once massaged into your skin, add a splash of warm water and as you lather it up, you can see your make up just melting away.
Even Waterproof Mascara
I normally close my eyes and just massage everywhere, rinse with water, and dry with a towel. By the time I look back in the mirror, I am sparkling clean, without a panda eye in sight.
Your Skin is Left Feeling Like Silk
Once you’ve washed it off, your skin is so clean and fresh.
Your skin is soft to touch.
And filled with that pro-collagen nutrients.
There’s a reason one of these babies sells every 10 seconds…
Can Anything Top Elemis?
After years of a committed Elemis life, (and folking out a small fortune for it), I thought there must be other cleansing balms out there…
There’s gotta either be better than Elemis, or at least cheaper…
The Second Best Selling Cleansing Balm…
The Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm is, I would say, the second best cleansing balm on the market.
On every website – John Lewis, Look Fantastic, Boots, the reviews are all 4.5 out of 5 of more.
In fact, I couldn’t find a single bad review…
And for the price (only half the price of Elemis..), I thought this is a no brainer.
I have to give it a go.
It’s Not a Spa Experience
So initially you’re not completely transformed into a 5* spa getaway when you open the lid.
In fact it is completely odourless.
That may appeal to some people…
Bit I did miss the dreamy smell from Elemis.
It Does Take Off Your Make Up
It feels less ‘oily’ than Elemis.
And in my mind that’s the lack of skin lovin’ ingredients.
But I don’t know if that’s actually scientifically correct.
At the end of the day though, (or the cleanse), Clinique does lather up just as well, it does melt your make up off just as good, and after drying my skin with a towel, my skin is just as clean as the Elemis.
Which Balm is Best?
If you want a cleansing balm that will effortlessly take off your make up, and not completely break the bank, Clinique will answer all of your prayers.
And Clinique Take the Day off is currently only £30 on Lookfantasic.com
If you want an experience, if you want a room full of Lavender, Chamomile and Eucalyptus to invigorate your senses, as well as nourishing plant oils such as Elderberry, Optimega™ and Bee Friendly Starflower oil to transform your skin, treat yourself to the Elemis Pro- collagen Cleansing Balm.
Currently it’s on offer for £39 (£10 off!) on Lookfantastic.com
Either way, cleansing balms have been scientifically proven to be more effective at reducing excess sebum oil and unclogging pores than a standard make up wipe, so whichever one you decide, your skin will definitely thank you for it.
