Bad Girl Bang or NARS Climax Mascara? How to Choose!

Choosing a mascara is a job in itself.

There are hundreds of massive brands, with great advertising and pretty little bottles, but how do you know if the mascara is actually any good?

Benefit and Nars are two of my favourite brands, so I dive in with their best selling mascaras and uncover the deets of what I found!

Life Before Bad Gal Bang

Up until recently my go to mascara has always been the Clinique High Impact Mascara.

It’s aimed at contact lens wearers as it is fibreless, so it’s safe for sensitive eyes and avoids irritation.

It gives a really lovely length to your lashes, and isn’t too pricey, but I was never blown away with my lashes.

If you’re looking for a natural lash and you wear contact lenses this mascara is perfect, but if you’re looking for a bit more volume, keep reading…

Bad Gal Bang – The Best Mascara, Like, Ever

Fast forward to my birthday when my partner buys me the MollyMae gift box (it was the easiest thing to request where he couldn’t go wrong), and I have found my new favourite mascara – Bad Gal Bang by Benefit.

I can’t believe I have never heard of this mascara before. I’ve heard of Benefit’s ‘They’re Real!’ mascara, and yeh, it’s not bad. But this Bad Gal Bang mascara, OH. MY. GOD.

I have never tried anything like it. It literally doubles your lash length.

You know what, I might even say triples.

My lashes were so long after applying, super black, and they didn’t clump together in the slightest.

Even the application on my bottom lashes blew me away.

I think I may have found something to compete with buying fake lashes (think how much money I’ll save!)

My lashes didn’t drop all day, and even by 8pm at night they were still lusciously long.

No smudges or crumbling at the sides; this mascara hadn’t budged! It was easy enough to remove with my cleanser, and I didn’t wake up with panda eyes the next morning where it hadn’t washed off properly.

This mascara was PERFECT.

NARS Climax

I didn’t actually go out looking for this mascara – after discovering Bad Gal I had no need.

But when a free goodie bag is in sight, there’s no stopping me.

I went to the Nars counter to buy my trusty concealer (Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – cannot go wrong), and while I was there they told me they had an offer on to buy two products and you get a free goody bag.

This included a lipstick, a lip liner and a serum in.

This was too good to miss!

I asked which is their best mascara and she told me the ‘best selling mascara in the UK,’ is the Nars Climax.

Happy with my freebies and another new mascara to try, I walked off pretty pleased with myself.

Is It a Climax?

The NARS Climax definitely gives your lashes a lovely length, and if you want to go for a more natural look, I would definitely say this mascara is a great contender.

It’s less in your face than Bad Gal, and the bottle did last a bit longer, as not as much product is used when coating your lashes.

However this mascara has nothing on the Benefit’s Bad Gal Bang. The length is a lot less noticeable, and the strong black colour is, well, less strong.

Are the Freebies Worth it?

I know the sale’s people have a job to do and are trying to hit their targets, but if you’re watching the pennies and only went to buy one product, stick to only buying that one product.

The freebies don’t really make up for it.

The lipliner and lipstick were both in colours I would never normally wear (baby pink anyone?), and the little bottle of serum I can safely say I still haven’t used.

I already have 40 different mini bottles of serums at home just rolling around my draw.

I’ll never throw them away though, you never know when you might need that serum aimed at dry skin when you have oily skin!
