How To Get Clearer Skin On A Budget

Cost of living crisis anyone?

Yep, me too!

So who can afford a 10 step skincare regime at £50 a bottle anymore?

Do. Not. Panic.

I’m here to share some budget friendly ways to clear your skin – today.

Here are 5 top tips that will make a difference to your skin without breaking the bank.

1. Water

Water out of the tap is 1000% free.

And if you do anything today to help your skin, it’s got to be to drink AT LEAST 2 litres of water.

For extra brownie points – aim for 3.

Water flushes out all of the toxins sat there under your skin ready to create a zit.

The more water you drink…

…the less toxins that will be left to create acne.

Add whatever you need to to make it more exciting!

Slice of lemon, cucumber, mint – whatever works for you.

Top tip – Use a water bottle to track how much you’re drinking.

I use this Quifit 2 Litre Bottle from Amazon.

Fill it up first thing in the morning and carry it with you everywhere.

In the car, on the sofa, while you’re cooking dinner – you’ll be surprised how often you find yourself leaning in for a quick sip.

It’s also the perfect way to track how much you’ve drunk.

Just one of these bottles and you’re done!

2. Yoga

Yoga is good for so many things!

Stress, circulation, better sleep, reducing inflammation, better mood and higher self esteem.

All of these things have a massive effect on the quality of your skin.

The biggest cause of acne is a spike in insulin levels, which can be caused by stress.

Reduce stress. Reduce the acne.

And the best part?

There are tonsssss of free yoga workout videos on YouTube.

Get in your living room and find a yoga video you fancy –

Morning flow, evening de-stress or a quick 10 minute beginner – whatever you’re in the mood for, go for it!

3. Matcha Tea

Everyone says how good green tea is for you and your skin.

So how about Matcha Tea that has three times the amount of antioxidants in then normal green tea!

Green tea is grown in the sun…

Whereas matcha tea is harvested in the shade, which increases the chlorophyll levels (the good stuff!).

The sheer amount of antioxidants in matcha tea fights the bacteria that causes acne.

It also reduces inflammation, lowers production of sebum oil and decreases insulin resistance.

In summary, one cup of this a day will well and truly clear out your skin.

And it doesn’t have to be expensive either!

I use this Japanese Matcha Tea from Amazon for just £6.49!

4. Hormonal Balance

 Hormones.

The absolute bain of our god damn lives.

Suffering with spots along your jawline or around your chin?

Yep, they’re probably down to your hormones.

Don’t panic, there are supplements out there that can balance these hormones and subsequently clear your skin.

However, hormonal balance vitamins can be pricey…

The Active Iron for Women supplements I take are nearly £20 a pop.

I then noticed on the box of these vitamins it very nicely points out what it is that clears the hormones = Vitamin B6!

So I went on the hunt for just Vitamin B6…

…and found this Nutravita Essentials Pouch of 120 B6 vitamins (4 months worth) for £3.99!

I have been taking these Nutravita Vitamins for a few weeks now, trading in the pricey Active Iron for Women, and I can confirm my skin is just as clear!

The Active Iron for Women are obviously packed with all kinds of good stuff, but if you just want the quick win and get started with your skin, start with these B6 bits, they’ll do you for now!

5. Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid dissolves the bacteria thats blocks up the skin cells and causes acne.

It unclogs those pores by breaking down the bonds in the bacteria.

However, salicylic acid can be expensive!

Here is one I’ve tried and tested that doesn’t break the bank, and can safely say it works just as well –

The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser.

Use morning and night as the first step in your skincare routine, and your skin is left feeling fresh and sparkling clean.
